The department is made up of two units. Mathematics and Information Communication Technology (ICT). ICT in educational process is mainly employed in four ways, namely; Teaching, Learning Evaluation, Administration and professional development. Generally, teaching is primarily focused on transaction of subject contents through lecture method, but with the emergence of PowerPoint presentation, Video Conferencing, Internet etc are used during the teaching and learning process. Similarly, in the case of assessment and evaluation, multiple tools and software are used. For example, online testing, computer tests, e-portfolios, etc are used to assess learner’s progress.

The Mathematics Unit offers a programme of undergraduate study in mathematics which is rich and varied. The unit offers a wide range of advanced undergraduate courses which provide an introduction to many areas of mathematics including geometry, probability, topology, numerical analysis, logic and differential equations.

The HOD is Miss Victoria Boafo from the ICT Unit. The current Staff strength of tutors in the department is Six (6) males and a Female constituting Seven (7) in all.

Currently, the Department offers three major options; Mathematics/ICT and Science/ICT. One core mandate of the department is the training of Basic School Teachers to acquire competencies in teaching of Mathematics and ICT in Ghanaian Basic Schools.
