The vision of the Department is to become a centre of excellence in the provision of tuition for student teachers in all educational and psychological courses, teaching and carrying out of research that is aimed at the preparation of professionally oriented teachers. The goal of the Department is to educate the mind, heart, and hand of student teachers in the art and science of teaching. We seek to train highly qualified, motivated new teachers who are effective, engaging and fully prepared to teach the basic school curriculum and improve the learning outcomes and life chances of all learners they teach as set out in the National Teachers’ Standards. We promote students to become globally competent at home and abroad, by teaching them to become culturally competent in teaching, research and instill the Nation’s core values of honesty, integrity, creativity, and responsible citizenship in order to achieve inclusive, equitable, high quality education for all learners. The Department of Education and Professional Studies was established to be at the fore front for the professionalization of student teachers from Mampong Technical College of Education. The Department has two Units: Counselling Unit and Supported Teaching in Schools Unit. The Department of Seven (7) members.
