THE OUTGOING PRINCIPAL’S MEETING WITH THE DEAN OF STUDENTS AND STUDENTS.

On July 28, 2025, the Mampong Technical College of Education’s College Pavilion was the scene of a significant farewell as the outgoing Principal, Mrs. Doris Boakye-Ansah, met with the Dean of Students and the entire student body. The purpose of the meeting was twofold: to officially say goodbye and to reflect on her six-year tenure, which was marked by extensive development and progress.

In her address, Mrs. Boakye-Ansah shared her profound and fond memories of her time at the college, expressing how much she cherished her interactions with the students. She advised them to extend the same level of cooperation and respect they showed her to the new college management and staff, emphasizing that such support is crucial for the institution’s continued success.

The principal then outlined the numerous achievements and projects undertaken during her administration, showcasing a clear and comprehensive vision for improving both infrastructure and academic life. The projects spanned from 2019 to 2025 and touched almost every aspect of the college.

Key Achievements (2019-2025):

  • Infrastructure Development: Mrs. Boakye-Ansah’s tenure saw a significant focus on construction and renovation. Key projects included the construction and completion of the College wall, enhancing security and aesthetics. The 18-unit classroom block was a major project, with Phase One (ground floor) completed and the first floor and internal fittings well underway. The Top Floor of the Administration Block was also a key focus, with reconstruction currently at the roofing stage. Other notable works include the renovation of numerous staff bungalows and student halls of residence, the construction of a new car park for management, and the reroofing of the Science Laboratory and tutor’s bungalows.
  • Enhancing Student and Staff Welfare: The Principal invested heavily in improving the living and learning conditions for both students and staff. This included purchasing 400 double beds and 800 mattresses for student halls, along with 500 new lecture hall furniture. She also initiated the renovation and refurbishment of the College Kitchen, the Library, and the Science Laboratories. For staff, offices were equipped with refrigerators, new furniture, and printers, and several staff bungalows were refurbished.
  • Operational and Academic Improvement: To streamline college operations, Mrs. Boakye-Ansah oversaw the acquisition of accounting software and the provision of a clocking machine. Academically, she championed professional development through various workshops and seminars for tutors, management, and administrative staff, focusing on areas like publication and quality assurance. She also initiated the establishment of a Senior Member Chamber in the library, providing a dedicated space for academic work.
  • Special Projects: The principal’s tenure was also marked by unique projects such as the fencing of the college pavilion, the establishment of a cassava farm, and the ongoing Centenary Project—a 3,500-capacity seater auditorium. Her administration also purchased graduation gowns for students, renovated the Counselling Unit, and improved sanitation with the provision of refuse containers.

Mrs. Boakye-Ansah’s legacy is defined by her comprehensive approach to leadership, which balanced large-scale construction with the minute details of daily college life. Her final message to the students was a call to uphold the values of cooperation and hard work, ensuring that the progress made during her six years continues for years to come.
