On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Mampong Technical College of Education’s College Pavilion was the venue for a significant meeting between the outgoing Principal, Mrs. Doris Boakye-Ansah, and all teaching and non-teaching staff. The meeting, held just before her compulsory retirement on July 31, 2025, served as both a formal farewell and a review of her accomplished tenure.
The agenda for the meeting was clear. First, the acting Vice Principal, Mr. Anthony Kwasi Frempong, provided a concise overview of the academic calendar, ensuring a smooth transition. Following this, the focus shifted to a retrospective look at the numerous projects and achievements spearheaded by Mrs. Boakye-Ansah over her six years as Principal.
Projects and Achievements: A Six-Year Overview
Mrs. Boakye-Ansah’s leadership was defined by a commitment to comprehensive development, focusing on infrastructure, welfare, and academic excellence.
2019 was marked by foundational projects, including the construction of the eastern stretch of the College wall and the acquisition of accounting software to modernize the finance office. The year also saw the painting of all college facilities and the enhancement of the main entrance gate.
2020 brought significant improvements to staff welfare and security. Mrs. Boakye-Ansah oversaw the renovation of four staff bungalows and the construction of a car park for management. Other key achievements included the embossment of all college properties, the construction of a water station, and the fencing of the pavilion. She also ensured all college vehicles were insured and provided a new clocking machine.
In 2021, the focus expanded to student accommodation and learning spaces. The southern wall of the college was completed, and the administration purchased 400 double beds, 800 mattresses, and 500 lecture hall furniture. Additionally, two more staff bungalows were renovated, and printers were acquired for several offices.
2022 was a year of extensive refurbishment and professional development. Numerous offices received new equipment like refrigerators, curtains, and furniture. Major renovations included the College Kitchen, the Science Laboratories, and the Visual Arts Studio. Student halls were also refurbished with new doors, netting, and tiles. The year also saw the reroofing of tutors’ bungalows, the construction of a garage for college buses, and a range of workshops and seminars for staff on topics from publication to quality assurance.
The momentum continued into 2023, with major construction projects taking center stage. The 18-unit classroom block began construction, and work on the Top Floor of the Administration Block commenced. The college also launched its ambitious Centenary Project: a 3,500-capacity seater auditorium. The year also saw the refurbishment of lecture halls, the acquisition of new furniture for academic staff, and the creation of a Senior Member Chamber in the library.
2024 was a year of steady progress on these major projects. Phase One of the 18-Unit Lecture Hall was completed, and the second phase began. Work continued on the Top Floor of the Administration Block, and the foundation for the auditorium was laid. The administration also renovated the Vice Principal’s bungalow, refurbished the Counseling Unit, and established a cassava farm as a new college initiative.
Finally, 2025 saw the final push to complete key projects. Internal fittings for the 18-Unit Lecture Hall were well underway, and work on the Top Floor of the Administration Block continued. The college also built two new security posts, a toilet facility at the ICT Lab, and reconstructed the management car park.
