MAMTECH HOLDS ORIENTATION FOR FRESHMEN ADMITTED FOR THE 2022/2023 ACADEMIC YEAR
Mampong Technical College of Education have held a 3-day orientation program for freshmen admitted to pursue a four-year Bachelor of Education degree in Junior High School program. The orientation program was organized by the College Secretariat and Academic Affairs and Assessment Unit. An orientation program for freshmen in a college is an event or series of events that are designed to introduce new students to the college campus, faculty, and staff. The purpose of an orientation program is to help students adjust to college life and ensure that they have a successful start to their academic journey. The orientation program also provides students with important information about college policies, procedures, resources, and services that are available to them. Overall, an orientation program is an exciting opportunity for freshmen to acclimate to their new environment and get a head start on their college experience.

Addressing newly admitted students. Which included the Principal, Vice Principal, Finance Officer, Librarian, Dean of Students, Academics Affairs, Departmental heads, Hall Tutors, Counsellors, Estate Officer and the SRC executives.
In her address, the Principal of the College, Mrs. Doris Boakye Ansah formally welcomed all members of the College Community to the ceremony. She also congratulated the fresh students on gaining admission to Mampong Technical College of Education. She assured the fresh students that it is by divine purpose that they have come to the college therefore, they must strive to achieve the aim of being in the college. She further stated that all the students have been destined for success and that would be their portion. She however cautioned students that they have duties and responsibilities to perform in order to be successful. Therefore, she entreated all the fresh students to take seriously, the opportunity given them to study a four-year Bachelor of Education Degree.
The orientation programme exposed the freshmen to what entails in the Bachelor of Education programme. A brief history of the College was also shared with them amongst others. Presentations were done by Heads of Department on the academic programmes run by the various departments of the College.
The presentation by the Academic Affairs/Assessment Officer, Mr. Ebenezer Birch Twumasi admonished student teachers to learn hard to excel. He said the student has a role to play in the teaching and learning activity and thus they must attend classes, take quizzes and mid-semester examinations amongst others. He further cautioned students against examination malpractices and warned that it is punishable and they must not attempt to cheat during exams. He also took the students through the grading system of the colleges of education.
The Student’s Affairs Officer of who is popularly referred to as “Father of Students” took his “children” through management of student life, personal discipline amongst others. Hall tutors were available to take turns to talk to the students about the various halls of residence. Various units of the college; that is, Finance, Library, ICT, Gender, Sports and Sexual Harassment and Guidance and Counselling Units also did presentations.
Throughout the program, the freshmen had the opportunity to interact with the various departmental heads, staff, and continuing students, who provided them with valuable information and advice on adjusting to college life. There were also several question-and-answer sessions where students asked questions and sought assistance and guidance on academic and personal matters of concern.
Finally, the college culture ‘MORALE’ which is ‘Jama’ group on campus did their rendition of songs and ushered the freshmen to their famous singing and drumming amid choreographic performances.
Mr. Robert Kwaku Markin, known popularly on campus as Prof, who is also the chief patron and chief ‘priest’ of the “Jama” group led the group to display. The program came to an end with freshmen beaming with smiles and poised for the academic activities for the ensuing year.
